Three named
to Hall of Fame:
Clown, Slick, Flash
At the
January board meeting, three dogs were voted into the GSPCA Hall of
Fame: NFC/FC Rawhides Clown, NFC/FC Sanjo Sin City Slicker, and CH
Huntabirds' Main Reason.
Rawhides
Clown was owned by Dierk Davis of Terre Haute, Indiana.
Clown started winning early. He was a
number one ranked Puppy Derby. In the fall of 1989, he won the
GSPCA Futurity, and in the spring of 1990, he was second in the
NGSPA Futurity.
His
greatest accomplishment was winning the GSPCA National
Championship three consecutive years, 1992 thru 1994. No other
dog in the history of the breed has ever won the GSPCA National
Championship in consecutive years, let alone three times in a row.
In fact, only two dogs have won the National Championship twice.
Clown did it three times.
Clown was
the second leading all-time sire in the history of the breed. He
was the GSPCA sire of the year six times and NGSPA sire of the year
twice. He is the second all-time producer of Field champions having
produced 48 as of last November, with undoubtedly more to come.
All-in-all, quite a record.
Sanjo Sin
City Slicker was owned by Steve Harrold of West Terre Haute,
Indiana. Slick won both the GSPCA National Championship and the
NGSPA National Championship in 1990. A feat only ever
accomplished twice. Once by Slick and one other time. He produced
two GSPCA National Champions, one of which, BMK's Wild Child, won
it twice. He also produced two NGSPA National Champions, one of
which, Heidi's Mighty City Slicker, also did it twice. In addition,
he produced two NGSPA National Shooting Dog Champions. His grand
get have won the GSPCA National Championship twice and the GSPCA
National Shooting Dog Championship the last four years. They have
also won the NGSPA National Championship and the NGSPA National
Shooting Dog Championships once each. Not only did Slick win on the
national level, but he produced national winners.
Huntabird's Main Reason was owned by Patti Keller of Paris
Crossing, Indiana. In 1988, Flash finished his championship and won
a Best in Show as a puppy. At the age of 15 months, he became the
youngest German Shorthair to win a Best in Show. He produced 76
champions, making him the fourth highest show sire in the
history of our breed. His grand get have continued to win
consistently, 142 of them have 216 titles. The third generation
continues the legacy with 228 dogs winning 341 titles. He was a
prepotent sire as well as a winner himself.
